Window bars

Metal grilles are installed on windows to protect the home from thieves and to prevent children from accidentally falling out. In the first case, grilles for a private house on the first floor serve as a high-quality physical barrier, protecting the building from vandals and ill-wishers.

In addition to grilles on the first floor, these structures can also be installed on the upper floors - to prevent pets and small children from falling out. The company "RBK ALBA" LLC is engaged in the manufacture and installation of such elements, as well as the repair of window grilles, offering custom-made window grilles at a very reasonable price.

What are the types of metal window grilles?

The work uses high-quality metal, which is necessarily treated to increase strength and protection from external influences. Therefore, custom-made window grilles provide for the following classification:

  • By opening method.

This category includes blind, opening, sliding and removable grilles.

Stationary grilles (also known as blind) provide for rigid installation in the opening. Such grilles for an apartment guarantee maximum protection, but in the event of a fire they can block escape routes. Opening grilles are fixed on hinges and are supplemented with a lock. This option is considered a good combination of anti-vandal characteristics and fire safety standards.

Sliding window grilles have the shape of an "accordion", folding using special moving elements. Such grilles are most often used for offices or small commercial premises.

Removable window grilles are fixed on bolts, and if necessary, they can be dismantled from the inside.

  • By manufacturing technology

This segment distinguishes welded and forged models. For the manufacture of welded grilles, a profile pipe and the electric welding method are used. This option is considered the simplest, without anything superfluous.

Forged grilles are made by hand using the method of artistic forging. Their main difference lies in the elegance and complexity of metal patterns. Here, decorative grilles for windows stand out separately, which will perfectly complement the exterior of the house.

  • By profile shape

Here it is worth noting flat or straight models and volumetric or convex ones. In the first case, they are mounted in the same plane with the facade - most often these are grilles for the basement. Volumetric or "bulbs" prevail in installation on windows, because they have a special bend in the lower part, where you can put pots for indoor flowers.

Features of manufacturing window grilles

Anti-vandal grilles are most often made of steel rods. The process itself involves a phased approach that takes into account the specifics of a particular product. In general, the manufacture of metal grilles occurs according to the following algorithm:

  • Dismantling of old grilles - if necessary.
  • Measurement and design. The craftsmen take the exact dimensions of the window and determine the main method for installation. Also at this stage, the type of metal grille for windows is selected.
  • Cutting and preparing the grille for windows. Rods of the required size are cut from metal.
  • Assembling the grille frame. The outer part of the contour is made, for which a pipe or metal corner is used.
  • Creating an ornament. The so-called internal filling is carried out. The grille is welded with decorative forging elements - rings, peaks, monograms.
  • Next, the product is cleaned of carbon deposits and residues of molten metal. It is mandatory to carry out anti-corrosion treatment of the grates and degreasing of the surface. Powder coating of the grates allows to prevent rust. Finishing enamel can also be used.

Installing window grilles: important points

Installation work is carried out in two ways. In the first case, the window grilles are installed directly into the prepared opening. For this, holes are drilled on the sides of the slopes for fasteners, which are welded to the grille frame.

The second method consists in laying the frame of the protective grilles on the windows with a fly-laying method. It is fixed to the facade using “ears” and anchors. This method is suitable for thin walls - for example, when installing grilles for a store.

For convenient operation and washing of windows, the installation of metal grilles is often carried out with a removal on brackets at a distance of up to 10 cm from the window.
